Can you do a 2 minute plank?

The plank is one of the best bangs for the buck when it comes to toning and strengthening your body. In a short time you can give you arms, abs and legs a great workout. The plank has become increasingly popular as a core strengthening exercise for many reasons. Here are some of the reasons that planks are worth doing:

1) Get a toned tummy

Planks work all the major core muscle groups including the transverse abdominus, rectus abdominus, the external obliques and the glutes. Working these muscles will help give your core definition.

2) Improve your strength

Strengthening the core muscles will not only tone these areas but it will strengthen them and reduce your risk of back injury.

3) Improve your posture

Planks improve your posture as when you core is strong it helps you maintain proper posture, which will help you to stand and sit up straighter with ease.

4) Improve your balance

Side planks or planks with movement are particularly beneficial for building balance.

5) Improve your mood

We all know that exercise helps us feel better and planks are no exception. They are quick to perform and aren’t weather dependent like other exercise.

Holding a plank for 2 minutes is a good indication of core strength and is often used a measure of fitness. It’s not easy to do and that’s why I thought it would be fund to help support people reach this goal.
